Dream Authors

So I've been doing a lot of dreaming lately, but it's not like that's a new phenomenon for me. The last couple weeks, I've been dreaming through music & photographs. Having spent most of my life involved in some sort of organized musical group (sounds too much like organized crime). However, I'm often inspired through music and photographs. Just in the last couple weeks, I can point to specific moments in time when I entered a far away world just in a few measures time. One song brought me to a choreographed dance, while another brought me to a peaceful, secure, and fulfilling place- both geographically and emotionally. My sensitivity to music and the tone it sets can often be used as a coping mechanism when things are tough. I find that setting Pandora up on my computer and letting "fate" play it's course can be interesting. I often stumble upon an artist which brings me somewhere new, causing me to feel renewed, invigorated, and inspired.
Photography has a similar affect on me, in terms of generating and inspiring dreams. At a time in my life when I have to stay put, something usually hard for me to abide by, viewing others' photography (mainly travel photography) brings me outside myself and becomes a catalyst for these dreams. I dream a lot, but that doesn't mean you can package me up and trivialize my dreams. They have purpose, strength, courage, and determination behind them & I have the resiliency to bounce back after set backs.
It's helpful to have these tools to use when I'm starting to feel stuck- they're both guaranteed dream generators...

oh, and pictured above is one of the top dream generators, my best friend Nicole
