On fire! That’s how I feel right now, just a couple hours after my Peace Corps interview. It went well, except I think I may have been a little over eager, but hopefully that’s not the worst quality to have. At least the recruiter knows I’m committed. I explained to her the whole situation that I was accepted three years previous and was deferred because of a medical condition. I just love interviews- both when I’m the interviewer and when I’m the interviewee. It’s just fun on both ends. I’ve been doing a lot of interviews for work lately, interviewing prospective staff for the group home I work for. It’s just interesting to see how different people answer the same question completely differently.
I’m excited to move forward with the process of applying to the Peace Corps. I know the next portion of the process is entirely exhausting and ridiculously long, but I’m determined to get through it. The only thing I think that could be in my way would be my medical history, but as long as I provide the necessary documentation of my recovery, I should be fine.
During the interview, I specified that I’d like to either be placed in a Spanish speaking country or a Russian speaking country. The recruiter said there are more opportunities for youth and community development in South America, but who knows where I’ll end up. So cheers to applying take two.
